Remembering Batang Rizal

A fine, summer day came last January 18, 2013. It was the day of our stage play wherein, we watched a play entitled "Batang Rizal" All students are in their colorful red Marello shirt together with our teachers. We are excited in this play. We want to see what's the story all about. Well obviously, this might be related to our National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal.
All of the students arrived at noontime but I was not able to join with them because me and my other schoolmates and classmates have other contest to do but after that, we eventually went to Assumption theater, the place  where the play will occur. We are still on time and I saw the students of DAZSMA waiting outside the theater. Then, after a few minutes we have entered the theater and sit until the play starts. Some students are looking for other seats, chatting with their friends, others also sleep and a lot more. And when the moment comes that the lights dim, the students get alive and excited because that signals the beginning of the play. And its true, some characters appear on the stage and explain some rules and proper behavior that we need to do while watching for the play. Then, the play starts.
Batang Rizal talks about Pepito, a student and Pepe, which is Jose Rizal. Pepito was put in a world of  trouble because he accidentally breaks the Jose Rizal statue donated to the school. When his teacher knew what happened, the teacher said that if the statue will not be replaced before the celebration of the Buwan ng Wika, he will be expelled from the school.
After that, he found a magical book that puts him into the time of Pepe, whom we know now as Jose Rizal. He met Pepe and surprised on what he is seeing at Pepe's time. They became friends. Afterwards, he went back to the present time together with Pepe. As they talks about the real life of Jose Rizal from childhood until his older years. Pepe get shock when he found out he was to die a tragic yet heroic death. At first, Pepe couldn't able to accept on what will happen to him but because of his heroic attitude and greatness, he realized that his death will symbolizes a true hero and an inspiration for other people. Until the time comes that he went back to his real time. This story bring happiness and enjoyment to us because of the corny jokes, teasing, and other happy moments of the situations.
After the play, we all went back to school with happiness on us because of what we had watched. We enjoy the play and understand the real meaning of heroism. Because of that, it makes our day more happy and fine.
